There are 3945 students enrolled in kindergarten through twelfth grade and 154 enrolled in preschool in Caroline County Public Schools. For children first entering school, a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate is required along with an up-to-date record of immunizations and vaccinations. Students entering kindergarten or elementary public school (K through 5) or entering school from another state shall have a physical examination completed in the 12 months prior to entry.

Caroline County offers special programs for students who are gifted and talented, disabled or those who wish to pursue a vocational education. Early childhood special education classes are also available for all 2 to 5-year olds, including speech therapy.

Free school bus transportation is provided to all students attending our schools. Activity buses are provided for middle school and high school students who wish to stay after school for extracurricular activities, sports or other academic assistance.

Textbooks and workbooks are provided to students in Caroline County where appropriate at no cost to the parents.

Policies adopted by the School Board aim to maintain an orderly classroom environment that permits all students to learn without disruption. Each school encourages student conduct that promotes good health, high standards of behavior, effective citizenship and a favorable atmosphere for learning.

Each school has a comprehensive safety plan to ensure the safety of students and staff. Safety drills and procedures are practiced.w Caroline County Schools are each staffed with counselors. Peer mediation programs have been implemented at the elementary through high school levels.
