Colonial Beach is a quaint little town tucked away on the Northern Neck of Virginia. It's population is about 3,500 and growing. In the old days it was a wild and busy gambling area with casino gambling as the major attraction. The casinos are gone, but this little resort town is better than ever!
Its clean public beaches on the Potomac River are a popular summer attraction. Some of the beaches have public volleyball nets, and playgrounds, making your day at the beach an enjoyable one. Tourists and locals alike, enjoy taking a stroll down our tree lined boardwalk which borders the beach, taking in the spectacular waterviews which are endless. There are several new playgrounds bordering the boardwalk, and for our outdoors minded there is a free Town pier offering fishing for rockfish, crabs, bluefish, flounder, spot and more. There are many shops that are a must to visit, including around a dozen or more antique and speciality shops, all within walking distance of one another. To make sure you look your best there is a bathing suit shop right on the boardwalk and a variety shop just a few blocks away.
