Achievement House Charter School, a new cyber charter school is preparing to open this fall. The school’s founder Dr. Wallace H. Wallace along with his team of educators is developing a cyber school that serves grades 9-12, with an initial enrollment of about 250 students, increasing to 450 over several years. Dr. Wallace feels that keeping the enrollment small will provide an opportunity for the teachers and staff to build warm, nurturing relationships with students and their families and to establish a sense of community within the school.
With strong parent and involvement and low student to teacher ratio, Achievement House Charter School will provide a wonderful learning environment for its students. Another feature provided by this new school is having mentors/tutors assigned to each student, in addition to the teachers. Mentors will monitor their students on an individual basis to ensure success with the curriculum, and help students reach their maximum performance level. There will be an option for computer and or textbooks for the core curriculum. The teachers will enhance the core curriculum with many interesting activities/projects that solve problems in the real world, and special group assignments. The school is student oriented and the interests of the students will be integrated into the learning process. Achievement House Charter School is a cyber school so the students work from their home anywhere through-out the state, with supervision from online teachers and their home facilitators. The school will also provide a computer and a printer/fax to each student along with a stipend for internet access. Dr. Wallace and his team are very excited about the wide choices in curriculum that will be available for the students. Opportunities will exist for qualifying seniors to receive college credit while still attending high school along with an exciting interactive core curriculum that Achievement House teachers will embellish thought-out the year. School clubs may involve computer games and programming, radio shows, chess, music digital photography, and class government will be among extracurricular activities expected this year. The Achievement House team feel this year is going to be an exciting year for everyone, especially the students; “We are committed to providing an excellent experiences and education for the students at Achievement House."
