The Oregon School for the Deaf (OSD) is an important part of the Oregon Department of Education's services to children, families and school districts in the state of Oregon. OSD provides comprehensive, specialized, educational services for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a setting that is communication-accessible through the use of American Sign Language by all staff. High quality teachers, educational support services specialists and residential staff work closely with parents, school districts, and other professionals and community partners to meet the needs of each child. Established in 1870, OSD is one of Oregon's oldest and proudest state-operated programs.
Our motto is, "Excellence For Each Student . . . Community Fosters Success." We believe every child deserves the opportunity to be educated in an environment that brings out the "excellence" in him or her. We believe every child deserves the right to succeed.
Thank you for visiting our student-designed and student-maintained website, produced by our student company, Deaf Tech. This is just one example of the excellence our students attain as part of their educational program at OSD.
