Our mission is to prepare students of fine character to graduate from
college and make a positive contribution to society.
Village Academy is a college preparatory public school serving children of low-income families. Opened in September 2003, Village Academy is located on East 120th Street in Harlem, New York, in a quiet, bright, clean building which is an oasis in the neighborhood. The school currently serves 100 students in fifth and sixth grades. A new fifth grade class will be added each September so that by 2011, the flagship school will serve 700 students in fifth through twelfth grades.
The Village Academy organization has secured approximately $6
million in funding to date, including seed funding from the Bill and
Melinda Gates Foundation and the Walton Family Foundation.
