Details: Nye County School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s): District Sign Language Interpreter Location: Special Education Support Services currently assigned to: Rosemary Clarke Middle School, 4201 N. Blagg Rd, Pahrump, NV 89060 Hours: 7.0 hours per day, 5 days per week, 180 days per year Salary: Funding Source: Special Education Starting Salary: $21.63 to $24.77 per hour based on verified experience Job Goal: To facilitate communication for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and/or teachers/staff in the educational environment. Qualifications: - Applicants must have the certificate by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. The following must be completed: Master Comprehensive Skills Certificate; Comprehensive Skills Certificate; Certificate of Interpretation; - Certificate of Transliteration; Legal Specialist Certificate; or Oral interpreting Certificate, and been certified by the National - Association of the Deaf as having a level of proficiency in providing interpreting services at 4 or 5 OR passed the CUED - Language Transliterator National Certification Examination and hold the certificate; or completed the Education Interpreter Performance Assessment administered by the Boys Town National Research Hospital with a rating of 4 or 5. Preference given to applicants with: Knowledge of American Sign Language, Bi-Lingual (Fluid), ability to provide academic services, initiate American Sign Language, as well as ability to communicate with parents in native language to reinforce what is done in the classroom at home. Working Conditions: Classroom or suitable workspace with supplies and equipment necessary to carry out the functions of the position description.
