There may not be an available position(s) at the time of application but positions can become available at any time. The candidate pool is used to refer qualified applicants to the site/department with the open position. School Psychologist

SUMMARY

Provide a full range of psychological services to support the academic and behavioral competence of students ages birth to 21 in one or more sites in the Minneapolis Public Schools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Utilize evidence -based best practice in all aspects of work including pre-referral interventions, consultations and evaluations.

* Participate in design, implementation, and evaluation of early intervention with children experiencing academic and behavioral difficulty. Provide individual and group intervention services for students, including social skills training and crisis intervention.

* Assist in development of crisis response teams and provide crisis response services.

* Assess individual students through direct and indirect methods, including use of the Minneapolis Problem-Solving Model.

* Collaborate with peers to develop, plan and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students. Support development and implementation of data collection and analysis systems to support databased decision-making.

* Adhere to due process requirements and state and federal laws regarding students with disabilities, and professional ethics and standards of school psychology. Support building staff in developing good practices related to due process requirements.

* Participate in revenue generating activities required for special education personnel, including logging services for MA billing, using the web-based EasyIEP system, and participating in the 'random moment' study for administrative Medicaid claiming and MDE Time Studies as scheduled.

Education, Training, and Experience

* Ph.D. or Ed.S. Degree in school psychology or related field.

* Completion of graduate program in School Psychology that is (a) approved by NASP or consistent with NASP's Standards for Training and Field Placement Programs in School Psychology or was accredited, at the time of the applicant's graduation, by an agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

* Valid Minnesota License in School Psychology or eligible for license.

* Completion of supervised internship in school psychology, full-year preferred.

* National School Psychologist Certification (NCSP) or NCSP-eligible preferred.

* Prior successful experience in urban, multicultural education desirable.

* Demonstrated continued professional development though course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development.

* Ability to build relationships with students

* Commitment to culturally relevant evaluations

* Trained on cultural diversity and unconscious bias
