Details: Grand Rapids Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s): LOOP Support Teachers (66 Positions) Location: Various/To Be Determined Additional Information: 3.5 hours/week Monday-Thursday Mondays and Thursdays are enrichment days while Tuesdays and Wednesdays are academic days. There are four academic support teachers per LOOP site or as necessary to maintain 18:1 student/staff ratio. Job Summary: Provide academic support for students attending the LOOP after school program. Primary Responsibilities: - Provide and deliver academic support services to LOOP after school students. - Attend all regularly scheduled planning meetings. - Submit accurate time sheets to Lead Teacher. - Inform Lead Teacher about necessary absence, before LOOP start time. - Manage volunteer program assistants, as assigned. - Collaborate with LOOP staff on various activities, (i.e. Collaborative Youth Fair). - Must be able to work with diverse populations. Preparation, Training, Experience and Education Requirements: - College degree and teaching certificate preferred. College course work in elementary education, Work Keys Certification, or equivalent, accepted. - In lieu of a Teaching certificate, candidate must have valid State of Michigan substitute teaching permit or; - Valid Michigan Health License (Social Worker, Physical Therapist, Speech and Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist) - Teaching or tutoring experience in urban setting. - Demonstrated experience in education teamwork.
