The Institute of Reading Development was founded in 1969 by Paul Copperman. During his ongoing tenure as president of the Institute, Mr. Copperman has published two books about reading instruction and served a term on the National Council on Educational Research, which is the policy-making board for the National Institute of Education. Under his direction, the Institute has developed reading programs for children as young as four and for adults well into their senior years.
The Institute of Reading Development has now been hiring and training teachers of enrichment reading programs for more than thirty years.
