However, it is our loyal associates who contribute most directly to the wonderful work for which FamiliesFirst is so well known. We believe in rewarding that dedication, and offer the following benefit package to eligible associates:


FamiliesFirst offers three options to meet our associates healthcare needs: Kaiser Permanente, PacificCare HMO and PacifiCare PPO.

Kaiser Permanente and PacifiCare are Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO), while PacifiCare PPO is a Preferred Provider Option.

Each plan allows associates to select their own doctor from a list of participating physicians, and both offer first-class medical care and affordable rates. HMO's provide comprehensive coverage, but specialized treatment must be authorized by primary care physicians.

Each plan includes hospitalization, prescription drugs, mental health coverage, durable medical equipment, well-baby care, and other services - as well as preventative care, like check-ups. Co-pays and deductibles vary depending on the plan.

Dental Care

FamiliesFirst offers a great dental plan through Premier Access. The plan coverage ranges from dental exams to orthodontia (for dependents). Associates can pick any dentist, but they save money selecting a dentist from the directory.

Vision Care

Medical Eye Services covers "materials" such as contacts and eyeglasses - a great complement to the eye exam benefit included in our healthcare plans. Associates can select contact lenses (up to $105 per year) or eyeglass lenses annually, and the frame allowance is $125 every two years. FamiliesFirst covers the cost of this benefit.

401(k) Retirement Plan

Associates are eligible immediately to enroll in the FamiliesFirst Prudential 401(k) retirement plan. To become eligible for any employer match the individual(s) must be employed for six (6) continuous months.

AFLAC Supplemental Insurance

FamiliesFirst is pleased to offer 5 supplemental insurance policies through AFLAC. The policies are completely optional and includes Cancer Expense Protection, Intensive Care Protection, Personal Short Term Disability, Personal Recovery Plus, and Personal Accident Expense Plus.

Life Insurance

Associates automatically receive life insurance through Jefferson Pilot, with a benefit of one year's salary (up to $200,000) plus an accidental death and dismemberment rider. FamiliesFirst covers the cost of this benefit.

Long Term Disability

To give associates long term protection, they are covered by Jefferson Pilot. Associates are eligible for approximately 60% of annual salary (up to $10,000 per month) if disabled for more than 90 days. FamiliesFirst completely covers the cost of this benefit.

IRS Section 125

FamiliesFirst associates are able to pay their premiums for healthcare, dental and AFLAC Supplemental Insurance on a pre-tax basis (saving money) through payroll deduction. Pre-tax deductions for certain additional health and dependent care expenses can also be arranged.

Employee Assistance Program

Associates are covered 24 hours a day at no charge by the Ann Clark Employee Assistance Program to help deal with everyday - or more serious - problems. Associates and household members and/or immediate family are eligible to receive three visits per clinical problem every 12 months with a confidential counselor. Ann Clark also offers information on childcare, elder care, pet care - even legal issues.

Tuition Reimbursement

After 12 months, eligible associates may qualify for up to $1000 per year for registration, books and tuition - for job-related degrees. We'll also reimburse associates up to $250 per year for other Continuing Education Units courses related to their job. To qualify, associates must apply before enrolling in class and get a 'B' or better.

Liberty Mutual

If approved, the associate receives discounted rates for auto, homeowners, and renters insurance. The policy rates are based on a 1-year term and premium can be paid via convenient payroll deductions.

PrePaid Legal

PrePaid Legal offers the following services: Preventive Legal Services; Motor Vehicle Legal Services; Trial Defense Services; IRS Audit Legal Services; and Preferred Member Discount.

Paid Time Off

FamiliesFirst gives associates 10 paid holidays per year - Plus one personal day.

President's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and one personal day.

Vacation: Eligible associates begin accruing vacation immediately and can use vacation after three (3) months from the date of hire. Full-time associates accrue approximately 10 days of vacation per year during years 1 -3 years of employment, 15 days of vacation during years 4 - 6 years of employment, and 20 days of vacation after 6 years of employment.

Sick Time: Eligible associates begin accruing immediately and can use sick leave after three months from the date of hire. Full-time associates accrue approximately 10 days of sick leave per year.

Career Development: Associates receive 2 days each calendar year that they may utilize to attend a class or seminar directly related to the duties of their current position.
